Have you ever gotten money that you didn’t realize you would get?
Everything from that $10 bill you find in your back pocket that gives you a little extra joy to that extra bonus at work that you weren’t expecting. It’s crazy how much of an emotional rollercoaster money can put us on.
I remember in a radio theater show I was listening to one time, there was a part that they were talking about how one person’s trash can be another person’s treasure. For example. If you had only one remaining picture of a dead relative, that picture would be quite the treasure for you, but to a random stranger, that picture would be trash. They couldn’t care less about a random picture of someone.
Also in the same vein, how much we can change when something goes from being worthless to high value.
In that same radio show, they point out how a little old lady who buys a vase at a thrift store can all of a sudden become a shark when they realize that same vase is worth a million dollars. She was sweet and cute before, but now all of a sudden she won’t let anyone into her house because she doesn’t trust them (I’m generalizing. Don’t take this personally old ladies:P)
Even when we think we’re not, we’re controlled by money.
