Day 6

This post is a part of a series on my three and a half week adventure road tripping to the west coast with three of my best friends in the Summer of 2018. I was challenged to write every day of the trip to document the adventure, so I did! My aim was to be as real and raw as possible while I was documenting and writing. Because of this, some days, I was honestly just not interested in writing, so I wrote very matter of fact “this is what we did.”

Check out the first part of the series here: Day 1 or check out a list of the days here: WCT2018

I wrote everything on my phone’s notes app, and below is word-for-word what I wrote each day. Nothing taken out, no elaborations.

As part of the challenge, I also made sure to take at least one picture every day, and each evening when I wrote, I picked one photo that I wanted to feature from that day. Some days it was hard to pick them, and other days I had only one to pick from.

A couple of notes: Each day that I wrote, I wrote the date, where I was writing from, and how many pictures I had taken that day. So the location doesn’t always reflect where the picture was taken.

Pictures taken: 6

I can’t believe I’m in Washington right now. This morning I woke up next to a lake in the middle of Glacier National Park, and now I’m a 10 mile hike, and 450 mile drive away ready to sleep in a bed.

Today, we said goodbye to Jen. We were in a hurry to get to our next destination, so after hiking part way with Jen, we split up, and us guys booked our way out of there. I really, really hated splitting up on the trail, but she was insistent, so after a few miles of hiking, we did. We took the trail from Elizabeth lake over Ptarmigan tunnel down to the Many Glacier campsite.

Thanks to Jen, we took her keys and took her car to go get our Suburban, then dropped her car back off at Many Glacier Campsite. It was so cool meeting and getting to know someone on the trail! We’ll all miss Jen! This picture is the trail leading up to Ptarmigan tunnel. The thin line in the top left of this picture is the trail leading up to the tunnel through the mountain. The little tiny hole that it ends in is the tunnel. Yeah, we hiked that. Pretty sure it was 30 miles straight up. It was another hard day of fast hiking, but it was beautiful once again. A great way to end our time in Glacier
