This is the season that many people have traditions centered around holidays and special events they remember. Some are exciting and people look forward to it, some people dread and don’t even know why they continue them except for the sake of tradition.

This season is full of things people do for no reason other than it’s what they’ve always done.

Traditions can be really fun, exciting, and even meaningful, but how many of them that you do are actually done with all three of those things in mind? How many are done because you know exactly why they started and why you want to remember why you started?

A practice one could do is as you go through this month of end of November through December, write down all of the things you do because of tradition. Figure out at the end of December which of those things you really care about and should be kept, and what are ones that you don’t care much for, and you could repurpose for other things?

Traditions are great, but can we make sure we do them for good reason?
