Half of the people reading this are probably going to look at the title of this blog and say “what the heck is WPM and why is this post titled that.” The other half is probably going to see it and laugh at how low the number is that’s attached to the WPM.
WPM stands for words per minute. Most know for words per minute typing on a keyboard.
A few friends and I decided to put ourselves to the test and see how fast we get could it. I knew going in that I would be the slowest person. I never even had a laptop until 2 years ago. But it was fun to try and compete anyway.
My friend who first wanted us to do it made it to over 150 WPM. The typing is insanity… the speed at which he types is literally dizzying. I came in with a just below 60 WPM, but I think I found a new pastime for me to practice and start seeing how fast I can get it.
The record, in case you’re wondering, is over 200 WPM. Not sure how it’s possible, but I’ve got a long way to go.
