People (and facts) often correlate cloudy and rainy weather with depression. For whatever reason, the sun seems to bring joy to many. Maybe the open feeling of being able to see what’s around you. The blue sky.

I’m likely no different from anyone else. If I was constantly surrounded by inclement weather, I’d probably eventually go crazy. I’d want some happy sunny days to sheer up the mood.

But sometimes, a rainy day is exactly what cheers up my spirits. In Austin, it feels like it’s hardly rained in the past couple of months, so today, when I looked out my window and started hearing the small pats of rain on my roof, I got a burst of joy. Maybe it’s because I was planning to stay in all day/night anyway, but I was so happy to see it overcast and rain coming down. It was like I hadn’t had a drink of water all day and took a big fat gulp.

There are pros and cons to almost anything, and almost everything, when not in moderation, is a bad thing.
