I have quite a few friends who are, or at least seem to be, obsessed with working out. Everything they post on social media is about it, lots of their conversations revolve around it, and even the things that I see them at are in a way workout related.

These are the kind of people that when COVID hit they didn’t say “yay, now we can chill on the couch!” They said “No, now we can’t go to the gym every day.” A different specimen of human.

I’ve never been a fitness nut, but as I have gotten more consistent in working out in the last year, I find myself going through withdrawal without much of it the last month. Even though I’ve been extremely active the last couple of weeks, it wasn’t intentional working out, so it didn’t feel like what it needed to.

I’ve started to see how some people could get obsessed with it. It’s addictive when you start to see and feel results, and it does make you feel better a lot of the time. That’s one of the big reasons I miss it. I’ve noticed a clear difference in energy levels when I workout vs when I don ‘t, and since I haven’t worked out in a few weeks, I could feel the tiredness today more than I have in awhile.

I’ll admit I’ve got a bit of withdrawal, but I promise I’m not becoming an Austin fitness nut. It’s good every once in a while to have a desire to workout, we might forget otherwise.
