As I walked into my parent’s house this evening after being gone all evening, I was hit with a wave of comfort. It’s the house that I grew up in my entire life until the age of 18, and have spent another good year and a half there since then.

The house is one of the most special houses I’ve been in, because not only have there been countless memories for me there, but it’s also held so many memories for others. It’s been a place of congregating.

It felt so right to walk in the door this evening. It really is still home in a way. Austin might be where I live, and in many ways, it feels like home. It is my home, but this house in the city of Derby Kansas will always be my home base.

I feel so thankful to be raised in a home that I love and cherish. There are so many people who have terrible experiences growing up and just want to get as far away as possible from there. I’ve never had to deal with this and now welcome my home with open arms because I know billions of people will never have what I have.

Thankful for my parents who raised me in this home and gave me a great experience as a child.
