There are probably hundreds of love songs that talk about looking up at the same moon at night. It seems overplayed.

But as I was thinking (and looking up at the moon) tonight, I was thinking how cool it kinda was. Maybe on a similar level to walking in Mt Vernon, realizing you’re walking on the same wood floor that George Washington walked on. Looking up at the moon and realizing that the people that you love, whether next door or maybe a thousand miles away, are looking at the same moon (depending on the rotation at the time).

Same thing for stars, but that’s like walking on an ancient battleground. Still a cool feeling, but maybe a bit more separated. It doesn’t feel like as close a connection.

The moon you can clearly see shapes. Depending on who you are, you can see the man on the moon. There may be absolutely nothing else that the location you are in have in common, but you both have the same moon, and that’s kind of cool to think about.

I don’t have plans to write another song on the subject, but if I’ve learned anything from Justin Bieber, it’s to never say never.
