There are lots of things in life that when you experience the first couple of times, they may be close to life-changing experiences.

The problem is, the more you experience this thing, the more numb you become to it.

You may love a song, but if you listen to that song every day for a couple of weeks, you’ll eventually stop liking that song as much. If you eat your favorite meal three meals a day for a couple of weeks, you’ll eventually grow tired of it.

The same thing happens even in relationships. As you grow closer to someone, both emotionally and physically, there is an exciting period. A period that you don’t know much about the other person, so everything that you learn is new and exciting, and every step physically is exciting too. The first time you hold hands, it’s a moment that’s hard to describe, but it’s a new feeling that brings excitement.

But that moment does not last. Eventually, that newness and excitement will wear off. Instead though of thinking about the next moment and becoming discontent in what you have, I am so grateful for the moments and times that God has given me.

God has given each moment in time to us for a reason. Let’s be thankful for that.
