to fit others into the same bag that we put ourselves in. It’s true that as you get to know others at a deeper level you realize how similar the struggles and thoughts are to your own. You start to realize the depth of others’ thoughts and feelings. This allows you to start to understand the things that they do.

There has been a tendency in my life to be selfish in the way I interact with others. Not a purposeful selfishness, but one where I don’t understand the difference in others’ needs.

For instance, I tend to be an internal processer. Unless something is a really big deal I could care less about someone else’s day. Naturally, I assume the same of other people’s desires of me. Who would want to know the mundane boring things of life?

But for some people, if you don’t vocalize what happened, it’s like their mind can’t fully comprehend. They can’t take in the day and what happened. Yet a simple 15-minute conversation with this person and they might turn the idea into 7 others.

Some people really care about these small conversations. The same people often are the ones that when they approach a problem, they don’t even need someone to give advice, they just need someone to talk at while they process and then they come up with a genius idea.

The wider perspective helps you to realize that everyone is different and the close up helps you realize that everyone is the same. The more you can comprehend these, the more you’ll be able to connect more quickly with others.
