If I were to say, “This topic deserves a deep and thorough conversation, so let’s table it.” Would I be saying to talk about it later or talk about it now?
If you’re not in a country that starts with U and ends with SA, then it’s the later.
Everywhere else in the world see’s “tabling a conversation” as an action in that it’s an important conversation that must be had immediately. The language difference on little things like this when comparing British English to American English is so fascinating to me because of how similar the languages are.
I found it fascinating, but apparently, someone found the tabling subject so fascinating they wrote this Wikipedia article about it.
Yet another instance where most Americans probably have no clue that what they see as the only truth is something literally only people in their country do.

There’s not really an action item here for us. Maybe the action item is just “America, there are other countries” or “No America, everyone else doesn’t do it weird. It’s you” or “America, please stop being so naive.”
