My roommate when I lived in Austin was an avid 2 screener. In fact, he often had 3 screens that he worked off of including his laptop. He swore by it and thought there was no way he could have been as productive without it.

I never knew whether I disagreed because we did different things and I truly didn’t need multiple screens, if I was stubborn and was resisting something that would have made me more efficient, if it was a different things help different people thing, or if one screen is the way.

I still don’t know the answer to these questions, but I see time and time again that the people who work off of multiple screens are not often the ones that get things done quickly, with exceptions of course.

Though I have no proof of this, I am convinced it is like most things. Anyone can excel in what they do, if they’re consistent with it. If you have two screens and use it all the time, great! You’ll probably become efficient and productive with it. If you only use one screen, great! You’ll get the things done that you need and you’ll be flexible where you do it from.

There’s no one-size-fits-all in this case.
