This post is part of my ongoing series of writing down my thoughts on the Bible passages I read each day. Some days I hope to have great insight that the Lord gives me, and many days, I will likely struggle through the text and not know what to write down based on what I read. My hope and prayer is that as I make this a habit, just as I did daily writing for so long, that I will improve on my ability to read and understand the passages I’m reading. Please keep in mind that many of these posts may be published late at night or with little time studying and simply be my first thoughts after reading. This is in no way a commentary that one should use to discern the Bible, but my own personal thoughts.

Switching sides when convenient.

I stand by my statement that this part of the Bible is both the most entertaining and also the most TV-showable. I think if someone could make a good production, there isn’t a better place (entertainment-wise that you could do it.

There is so much drama that goes on. You have a king who has to hide until his kingship is recognized, you have that king’s commanders who are loyal until another challenger to the throne comes, then they turn sides, you have evil and good counselors, you have other kingdoms waging war against this kingdom. All the while, you have basically the personal diary of the king that you can read through while the rest of the story unfolds.

It is such perfect TV show-making material, I can’t below there isn’t anything out there. Though I do hope if someone one day does make it that it’s A. actually decent quality and not looking homemade. And 2. Sticks to the Bible and doesn’t throw a bunch of terrible extra stuff in there.

The only other note that I was thinking of was that I’ve noticed they take the burial ground of people pretty seriously in the bible. Or at least so far they do. They make sure that people are laid to rest in a place that honors them and not just out with a bunch of other random people or stung up somewhere.

I don’t know if some of this was just honor, if it was some superstition, or what, but it’s interesting the care they take to make sure that they are putting people to rest in a place that they believe will honor them most. It makes me wonder about the gravesites we have now. It seems like it would be cooler to have other more honorable ways to be “buried” or placed somewhere. It’s not like your bones or ashes or whatever actually mean anything once you are dead, but still, it would be cool to have cool send-offs. I suppose that is a bit easier if they are ashes rather than a body.
