This post is part of my ongoing series of writing down my thoughts on the Bible passages I read each day. Some days I hope to have great insight that the Lord gives me, and many days, I will likely struggle through the text and not know what to write down based on what I read. My hope and prayer is that as I make this a habit, just as I did daily writing for so long, that I will improve on my ability to read and understand the passages I’m reading. Please keep in mind that many of these posts may be published late at night or with little time studying and simply be my first thoughts after reading. This is in no way a commentary that one should use to discern the Bible, but my own personal thoughts.

“You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay.”

A reminder for all of us. Whether someone who’s had a relationship with God for 40 years or a new convert, the Lord is the same deliverer today as he was when you first came to know him. He still saves you from the sin that you commit.

I sometimes forget this…until I do something that I feel terrible about. That the gospel is not just for non-believers, it’s for those who know and love God. Why? Because we’re still sinners. We must constantly be hearing and reminding our brothers and sisters of the truth of the gospel. Especially in a world that idolizes love of self, we have to remind ourselves and each other that we are not good, or at least of nothing of our own are we good.

Only through God does any good come from us. And only through God are we delivered from the evils of this world.
