This post is part of my ongoing series of writing down my thoughts on the Bible passages I read each day. Some days I hope to have great insight that the Lord gives me, and many days, I will likely struggle through the text and not know what to write down based on what I read. My hope and prayer is that as I make this a habit, just as I did daily writing for so long, that I will improve on my ability to read and understand the passages I’m reading. Please keep in mind that many of these posts may be published late at night or with little time studying and simply be my first thoughts after reading. This is in no way a commentary that one should use to discern the Bible, but my own personal thoughts.

Provision.

There are many points in the Bible that are easily skippable. Or at the very least skimmable. Books will list out the genealogies of every single important person in the Bible, and some seemingly unimportant.

Yet even in this, God was using this preservation of the genealogies to be able to fulfill prophecies later on. It is through these genealogies that they were able to track Jesus’ lineage back to David. God once again uses things that seem useless to us to serve a purpose that we couldn’t imagine.

Chapter 6 in particular also covers the way land was dispersed among the Levites, who if you remember back to when the tribes were made, did not have an inheritance themselves, but they relied on the other tribes since their job was to be priests and intercede for the people.

God’s provision is perfect. Our human perspective of it is not. We would do well to trust more in the God who created us.
