This post is part of my ongoing series of writing down my thoughts on the Bible passages I read each day. Some days I hope to have great insight that the Lord gives me, and many days, I will likely struggle through the text and not know what to write down based on what I read. My hope and prayer is that as I make this a habit, just as I did daily writing for so long, that I will improve on my ability to read and understand the passages I’m reading. Please keep in mind that many of these posts may be published late at night or with little time studying and simply be my first thoughts after reading. This is in no way a commentary that one should use to discern the Bible, but my own personal thoughts.

It seems there are a lot of situations in the Bible where there is a couple that is trying to have a child and they can’t. It’s not until God allows them to have a child that they do. Yet as I’ve been looking toward marriage, there have been a lot of discussions I have had with peers and mentors alike and it seems the focus is much more on not having children and how to do that.

The birth control conversation is a whole different beast, but it’s so apparent to me reading these stories that God is in complete control of when we have a child or not. We may think that we can control it, but if God wants to do something with you, he’ll make it happen.

God’s also in control even when we do dumb things or things that are against What God commands us to do. God didn’t want His people to marry outside of the people of Israel but Samson decided there was a pretty girl and he didn’t care where she was from. He had to have her.

Samson and his parents didn’t know this, but God was using their wrongdoing to serve His ultimate purpose. This is comforting when we look at the things in our life that we feel like were mistakes or things against God. God wasn’t stumped when we did those things, he used those for His perfect plan.
