I am incredibly thankful this year to have only had one job in one state and that that state is Texas and doesn’t do income tax.
In previous years, I haven’t even wanted to mess with my taxes because I was so afraid of how complicated they would be. In previous years I’ve had things like incomes from three different states, independent contractor, etc. The truth is, I didn’t know how complicated it would be, but the unknown was what scared me from trying.
It’s pretty astonishing to me how little taxes are taught or learned until you need to do them. I was homeschooled, so obviously things are different at every school, but it seems from most people I talk to, taxes are an unknown fear in their life.
Praise the Lord for easy taxes this year from only one state. Taxation is still theft, but at least it’s more simple theft this year for me.
