Have you ever read through old letters from people or gone through videos from the past and had overwhelming emotions? Most likely common for almost any person. Some people may look back on these times fondly, some it may bring back hurt from a time they’re not sure they want to remember.

What’s even weird than this to me though is when actual people bring back nostalgia. You see someone whom you haven’t seen in ages and you all of a sudden get a rush of memories that you had with that person (for better or worse), and now your brain and your heart can’t focus on the present because it’s trying to recreate so many memories from your past.

When these people bring back good memories, it’s one of the most fun things to be able to relive some of those memories together and share stories from the times.

As I think about it, perhaps the only thing better than nostalgia is sharing nostalgia with someone else. It’s somehow different from simply having an experience with someone, it’s deeper than that. You have the same experience with them, but you also have the same or similar emotions about that experience and you’re able to bond over that.

It’s a unique but amazing way to be able to relate to someone else.
