The polarization of the American culture these days seems to be growing more and more.

Do you wear a mask, do you not? Do you support this politician or another? Do you believe what I believe or not?

If the answer to any of these is different, the culture seems to say that we should distance ourselves at all costs.

Some people may claim that they only do this on issues that are deal breaking issues. That there are known facts and the “other side” is against those “known facts.”

But what if it’s not a proven fact? What if your opinion is just that, an opinion? What if it’s possible to live civilly with others who disagree with you…even on important issues.

They may not ever become your closest friend, but that doesn’t mean you should constantly berate and badger the people who are on the “other side.” Part of what makes America America is that two Aidee can disagree on something without starting a war…we’ll see if we can keep it that way.
