Again and again in the Bible does it talk about this idea of giving up all that you have to follow Christ.

The things you give up aren’t necessarily bad things, but I realized it’s not about what those things are, it’s that they exist.

We have to fully give up all our wants and desires in order to truly get all our wants and desires.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life” ~ John 12:24-25.

We don’t give up our wants for something inferior. We give up our wants in order to receive something a thousand times better (not always physically better looking from the outside. Remind yourself of this next time you think you want to do something contrary to what God has written in His word. I promise you, it won’t pay off.
