Something I hadn’t thought about until today was the scenery of some of the battles of history. Places that are now insane tourist destinations due to their beauty were likely battlegrounds at some point in history.

One of the more recent ones that I was thinking about was many of the islands in the Pacific war during WW2. Some of these places were incredibly beautiful. There were obviously some that probably didn’t look like more than a volcano and land, but there were some that had beautiful sand beaches with blue water coming up against them.

It feels odd to mix such tragedy and death with something so beautiful, but over and over again in history, you will see that battle and war pays no attention to the scenery, Man is too distracted by the power it must have to stop and pay attention the beauty instead of fighting over it.

Love this Joey! I was recently at the massive military cemetery at Point Loma, San Diego. The simultaneous beauty and horror of it all is surreal and striking! Have you been to any of these Islands yourself?

Thanks man! It does seem like it would be very surreal.
I have not. I’ve heard stories from people who have made trips to various islands, but have yet to go myself. Any time I go to someplace where there was a battle fought, I get a pretty surreal feeling. I can only imagine on an island like these.
