The Bible talks about the advantage of having two vs one person. That if one falls or if they come up against a battle, they’re able to withstand and help each other:

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 – “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”

After having several conversations with my roommate about his and his girlfriend’s relationship and now experiencing it several times for myself, I’ve realized how great it is to have another person to talk to stuff about. When you’re stuck on something or can’t quite think through rationally, just having that other person there that you can trust, confide in, and make decisions with.

So it seems that even on top of the added bonus of accountability and helping when the other person is down, it’s also an advantage in that you then have a person you can count on and can have by your side as you make the difficult decision in life.
