It’s easy to feel like the work that you do doesn’t have a purpose. Those jobs you have as a teenager, working at a local supermarket or at McDonald’s.

Even as people get into what some might call “real jobs” many still struggle with a feeling like their work doesn’t matter. Even “meaningful” work can have a temporary feel. I say “some,” as if it doesn’t affect me, but this is a question has been something I often struggle with.

Knowing that my mission in this world is to glorify God. To proclaim His name to those who don’t know Him. Sometimes it seems like working a mundane job holds me back from doing this. That I’m not living that out.

But that’s simply a lie. My girlfriend reminded me of this tonight. That the work that we do is given to us by God. Whether that’s working at McDonald’s or doing missions in a third world country…or working from home in the middle of an international quarantine.

All work is given by God and is, therefore, a blessing. I needed this reminder today, and I’m so grateful that God has put people in my life to remember. Every part of our life can be and is for Him. And how much better if we do.
