When I did a campout last weekend, I asked a question of each of the guys who were on the trip: who’s had the greatest spiritual impact on your life?

It wasn’t what you might expect. You know, people who are all crazy missionaries. It was steady people. The greatest spiritual impact wasn’t the outgoing ones who were seen by all, but those who quietly lived out their life of faithfulness and obedience.

These people weren’t really “inspiring” by outward standards. Nothing was too significant about them except their steadfastness.

It just reminded me that there’s nothing you (on your own) do that is inspiring to other people. Only through God can you make an impact that will leave an impression. And God can do that with anyone.
