During Thanksgiving time when I was asked what I was most thankful for, something I found myself saying and realizing was how thankful I am for technology. Though I have a love/hate relationship with it and how it can actually cause a lack of communication rather than an increase, it’s still something I am so grateful for.

The ability to be able to communicate with people in the next state or on the other side of the world.

This evening, in the middle of my family’s normal Christmas Eve festivities, I was able to Facetime my one sister and brother-in-law who couldn’t make it to the party. We carried on a conversation in some ways as if she was right in the room talking to all of us. It, of course, couldn’t fully replace her being here, but it was a nice add on to the evening and it’s certainly better than what we had even 5 years ago.

I so love this time of year because of the time with family and the focus on what’s important, but I’m also thankful for the technology that helps us stay connected better.
