According to USnews.com, this is the list of the fastest-growing cities in the US from 2017-2018.

Several are down south where it’s warmer, but other than that, I’m not sure. I have a fascination with what causes these populations to expand. Is there something similar that all of these have that other cities don’t?

Places like Midland seem more obvious because of all the jobs that have been created by oil and gas, but is there something else there too?

What do Bend, Oregon and Odessa, Texas have in common? Is there anything you can think of? Climate is very different, geographical settings are different, lots of differences, but surely we can find a commonality.

What if we could find what’s the same or similar and create a whole process on how to find out if a city has that and how to grow it if not?

    Interesting post.

Thinking about why people move to these places is thought provoking.

When people move, aside from work, what are they looking for? Change, their fortune, peace, a place to call home, their dream life? But what do they bring with them? Will they try to recreate what they came from? And in so doing, will they ruin what they have gone to?

Although it may seem great to have the increase growth in areas, what once was, will not be again. New ideas (that really don’t fit the new place), more congestion, change (whether good or bad),
progress, (but not all progress is good.)

Once we move forward, we cannot go back.

I guess I am conflicted about the shift in population. Status quo or progress?

There are two sides to every coin.

Hmm, lots of really good thoughts. I hadn’t even thought of what to people bring to a place. That has a huge impact on what a city becomes. Thought provoking for sure.
