I often find the idea of time and traditions odd.

For instance, what makes a birthday special? Yes. I understand the rotation of the earth around the sun, but in reality, time is just time.

We’ve made seasons from the weather and years from the sun and months from the moon. We divide up time into segments and groupings, but in reality, it’s all just one continuous flow.

To me, things like birthday’s aren’t special because it’s a certain day, but because of the reminders that it brings. It’s almost like a built-in reminder system for people to remember key events.

Birthday? Boom. After a certain consistent amount of time, we’ll be reminded of this day again and when we are reminded, we will celebrate.

Want to meet with someone on a regular basis? Boom plan a consistent amount of time to do it.

Maybe it’s too late for my mind to be thinking, but I’ve just realized that years, months, days, etc – the calendar is just a task manager. A task manager all other task managers are built off of. Built for us to track and remember key events and times.

Your birthday is special, not because of the day you were born on, but because of the reminder that it gives to the people around you.

Astrologers and people who read peoples birth month and stuff, please don’t hate me.
