This is part of a series of questions you might ask me in an interview, along with my answers. Check out more of them here.

Why were you late?

[I would hope for this not to happen, but you never know.]

If they ask this after being just a few minutes late, I think it’s usually best just to own up to it and tell them that I have no excuse and apologize deeply.

However, if it’s anything more than three to five minutes, I better have an answer. I should be taking all possibilities into my head when going into an interview, so if I’m that late, there better have been something wildly out of my control that kept me from getting there on time/early.

What do you have a monopoly over? What are you the best at?

Analyzing the needs of others.  I believe my spiritual gifts are serving and leading.  Because of this, I am constantly analyzing the things that happen throughout the day.  Everything from the general mood of others to the words they use to communicate. I am able to analyze the things that people do and need based on the knowledge that I have of their life.  However, the real challenge is then to use this insight to invest instead of disregarding it and moving on.

How many emails are in your inbox right now?

I have two email accounts. My work-related email has less than 10 emails in it (which is too much for my taste. I like 0). And my personal probably has 20-30. This one for some reason bothers me less when it is more crowded. 30’s about my max though for my personal inbox. In general, my goal is zero-inbox and I normally get there 1-2 times a week for my work email and 1-2 times a month for my personal.
