Nothing quite compares to having a mission you are going after and having a full team behind you committed to the same goal.

I am currently visiting my home in Kansas and I am realizing how much I have missed the encouragement and accountability of having my close friends with me.

Quality time is my love language. Because of that, I tend to invest very heavily into where I am at. Since I am living in Missouri right now, that’s where I invest. It doesn’t take me long to get connected at a place and get involved. Sometimes this has a negative impact on friendships from previous locations I have been in.

If I’m not around you, I often don’t think about you. It takes a very strong effort for me to contact someone I am not running into on a regular basis. Even with my parents, I struggle to call or stay in contact with when I’m not home. It’s not because I don’t care about the people I’m not with, it’s because I am so focused on where I’m at and the people I am with that it’s hard for me to think about them at all, let alone contact them.

It’s something that I’m trying to improve as I get savvier with technology, but it is still a chore.

This trip home though I have realized all that I am missing by not actively seeking to grow these friendships, even while physically apart. With technology, we are getting closer and closer to feeling like we’re actually talking to the real person when we contact them remotely. I have no excuse for not making it happen.

The encouragement I have gotten from my brothers-in-Christ this week has been what I needed for the past 3 months, but I didn’t even know it. This fellowship. This brotherhood is so important for each of us in our lives. To surround ourselves with people who are on the same mission as us.

If you don’t already have those people in your life, start looking. If you do have those people, start encouraging each other.

The brotherhood is so important.
